Real Ale Festival
Thanks once again to all those who supported the 2009 Real Ale Festival on 25 and 26 September. There was an even more diverse range of entertainment this year, especially on Saturday afternoon. As well as live music inside the Main Hall, outside we had a display from the “Warts n All” medieval re-enactment group, audience participation with the Stratford Morris and Swordsman and the traditional bouncy castle for children!
Attendance was similar to 2008 with around 250 adults over the three sessions, and we sold 500 pints of beer and cider. David Ingham supplied a delicious range of local burgers, sausages and pasties from the Village Shop, and we’d like to thank the many people who volunteered to help with the preparation, serving and washing-up!
We are very grateful to the local businesses that sponsored the ale and donated the excellent prizes for the raffle, which alone raised £350. We hope that the lucky winners enjoyed their meals at the Chequers and the Bell, and fresh farm produce from Talton Mill and Brook’s Plants.
